Focus On The Sunrise

Take a look at this…

It happens every single morning

It is the most amazing thing to wake up to

Normally I miss out because I'm too busy…

…busy getting ready for work

…busy worrying about money

…busy despairing I'm not living with purpose

But when I focus on the sunrise...

I am renewed... 

I am in awe...

I  am flooded with emotion

Why don't I take the time every day?

Will I start taking it for granted?

Do I think it won't 'work' unless there's an ocean nearby?

Or is because some dark part of me doesn't want to loosen it's grip on me…

…doesn't want me to stop and just…

Be. 

Because when I stop. look. focus…

I start feeling...

Content.

Loved.

Inspired.

Energized.

Free.

Unlimited.

When I'm focused on the sunrise, with my wife's hand in mine, I feel that there is nothing we can't accomplish…

…the funny thing is that nothing I usually try to accomplish comes to mind. Not promotion, not technology, not new responsibilities, not a big enough emergency fund, not material gain, not status.

Instead what comes to mind is exploring, singing, playing, loving, helping, learning, serving, laughing, teaching, smiling…

...all the things that allow me to connect with my wife…connect to my God.

 The things that usually matter and take my focus suddenly don't. And the things that have eternal impact…things that will last several lifetimes…finally come into focus.

It's like God is shouting, "Today is THE day! It's time to get going! Let's do stuff that matters! Who's with me?!?"

…isn't that the kind of wake-up call we all want to hear?

Maybe that's why I should focus more on the sunrise...

So every single day, I wake up, focus, and hear...

"Today is THE day! It's time to get going! Let's do stuff that matters! Who's with me?!?"
